Giving a bathroom a facelift sounds like a lengthy job. There are a lot of fixtures in there that’ll need polishing or replacing, and you don’t want to leave any exposed wiring over the top of the shower!

But maybe you’ve just had an emergency plumbing situation and your bathroom has been left in a total mess. Whatever has happened, you’ve got a spare weekend coming up and you want to get some work done!

Thankfully, there are a few things you can do in the space of 48 hours; try out the three jobs below and see what a difference they’ll make.

Can You Give A Bathroom A Facelift In A Weekend?

Hang Up a New Mirror

You’ve got 48 hours to make a difference – what’s the first thing you can do with your bathroom? Anything that’s not going to require plumbing work! And seeing as the bathroom mirror is still a pretty crucial part of the space as a whole, why not take it down and replace it with a new one?

The new mirror should be suitably sized for the space, even if it’s bigger than the old one. You can also fix a light above it if you’d like, or a small shelf below it for putting things you need every day within easy reach.

It won’t take more than a few hours to get each of these little tasks done, and seeing as mirrors make the space around them look even bigger, you’ll feel like the bathroom has been completely transformed!

Switch Out the Shower Tray

Take a look at your shower right now. What do you notice about it? Make sure you take a good look up and down the whole length and see what stands out. Maybe a bit of mould here and there? Most bathrooms have this issue, thanks to ventilation issues. Or maybe the drain doesn’t pull as well as it used to? There could be a clog in there that’s overdue removal.

Thankfully, these are all easy issues to fix, and they also make your bathroom look a lot different to how it used to. Indeed, you can just grab yourself a Slate Shower Tray from a DIY store on your way home, make sure you’ve got some glue and caulk or grout in the house, and then take a couple of hours tomorrow to take the old tray out and replace it with something shinier!

Paint!

Of course, you can always use the weekend to paint the bathroom and give it a new look. Buy some bathroom paint that won’t be affected by moisture, use some painter’s tape on the ceiling and around the tops of the tiles, and make sure you’ve got plenty of rollers to make use of! And remember, painting a bathroom usually only takes half the time a regular room takes to paint, so you can be sure you’ll be done by Monday.
